What is Coaching? ​

Coaching is working with a coach (me) about your learning, development, well-being, and/or performance. It raises self-awareness, where you set your own agenda, become more self-aware, and develop your own skills to change your attitudes and behaviors. During a coaching session, I would ask you questions that both support and challenge you as an individual. We work on what you want to work on, while utilizing a holistic perspective. Overall, the main focus of coaching is closing the gap between where you currently are and where you want to be by making the choices to change and take action on the goals you set. 

What is Mindset Coaching? 

Mindset coaching with me will have 2 main focus areas:

1. Life Optimization- work on providing peak performance in desired areas by working on habit formation, goal setting, overcoming limiting beliefs, and more.

2. Mental Fitness/Mindfulness- Focus on improving mental resilience, creating a positive mindset, and developing awareness.

A Bit More About Me 

Hello, my name is Jessica (Jess) and I am passionate about helping individuals transform their lives with mindset coaching.

Some Background

I grew up in a small town in Iowa, USA. After graduating high school, I attended Iowa Central Community College, which is where I met my current partner, Nathan. My educational background is in social work, as I have a bachelor's degree in social work with a minor in psychology. I have done most of the course work for my master's degree in social work, but have decided to pivot my focus for the time being. 

I completed the coursework needed to become a coach, along with completing the required hours of coaching practice. After I finished all of the requirements, I applied to take the coaching exam, and was able to pass, which has provided me with the official title of a board-certified coach. I moved to Hawkes Bay, New Zealand in April 2022, which is where Nathan grew up. I currently with Nathan and our pup, Oden. I enjoy playing soccer, being outside, spending time with family and friends. When I am not doing these things, I enjoy creating resin art and going to local markets. 

My Journey

My path to becoming a mindset coach began with my own struggles and triumphs. I have been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and anxiety, and to be honest, I felt overwhelmed and as if I lacked control. While there are still days that are more challenging than others, I have found that my mindset around my struggles was impacting my quality of life. I have always known that I wanted to help others and once I found coaching and saw how the evidence-based techniques can lead to positive change, I knew this was what I wanted to do. I have personally seen how the power of a positive mindset can help other excel, and I decided to personally and professionally develop myself to complete the requirements to become a board-certified coach. 

People's Health Alliance Hub

About the Hub

The People's Health Alliance has recently launched a new hub in Te Awanga, creating an opportunity for residents and surrounding communities to access a range of holistic health services. The hub will operate every Thursday from 11 am to 3 pm, offering a chance to meet with skilled health professionals who are ready to provide their expertise and support.

I am excited to share that I will be available at the hub most Thursdays, if not every week. This is an invitation to come meet me in person, explore my unique coaching methods, and discover resources tailored to help you. Together, we can arrange one-on-one sessions to discuss your goals, foster a positive mindset, and take steps towards meaningful growth and well-being.
